Who am I and why am I writing this blog??

Welcome to my new blog!! I created this page many moons ago but never quite found the gumption to publish it or to do much with it! But today, I feel a sense of peace and, dare I say it lest I jinx my universe, even a glimmer of joy?! And with that peace and joy comes the ability to silence my anxiety and to find my voice again. My goodness it feels like such a long time since I’ve had my voice! I shall dust off the cobwebs of my inner goddess and share with you all my little journey through life!

I am a 40 something, second generation safety officer, from rural Nova Scotia. I am the wife of an incredibly kind and brilliant and talented and thoughtful immigrant. I am a crazy cat lady to my cat baby, Luis. I am a flawed but devoted daughter, which also means caregiver to my sweet Mama who has dementia. I am both a sister and a sister-in-law. I am an aunt to 16. A Jojo to 5 more. A couster to two beautiful souls. A cousin who has a very large, insane but amazing extended family!! I am a lifelong Blockhead. I am a Christian who is somewhat floundering given the recent findings at Residential Schools across Canada. I am a friend who continuously tries to improve myself in order to BE a better friend. And my ultimate goal in life is to be half the social justice warrior that my Mama is.

I don’t pretend to be a fascinating person. And maybe no one will even find what I write remotely interesting!! And that’s okay! I feel compelled to write, which is how I know I should. I feel strongest when I write and I feel like I’m starting to live up to who I am supposed to be. (Ya, okay that might not make sense quite yet…but bear with me, it might eventually!)

So…stay tuned to hear some snippets of my life! I’ve been knocking around covid crap in my head for so long that that will eventually find its way here but I figure I should start at the beginning of this journey to joy. So first up will take us back in time to December 2008! See ya soon and thanks for stopping by!
